EasyJet Plc founder and No. 1 investor Stelios Haji-Ioannou dropped attempts to oust non- executive director Rigas Doganis after the company said it would make a one-off dividend payment of 150 million pounds ($232 million), the Financial Times reported.
Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of EasyJet Plc, wrote to EasyJet Chairman Michael Rake yesterday to reiterate his call for the airline to reduce the number of aircraft it owns and return up to 600 million pounds ($956 million) to shareholders, Sky News reported, citing the letter.
EasyJet Plc founder and No. 1 shareholder Stelios Haji-Ioannou said he will vote against a management plan to buy 135 Airbus SAS jets valued at $13.2 billion, citing a lack of transparency to the transaction.
Stelios Haji-Ioannou is calling for the removal of Rigas Doganis from the company’s board, little more than a week after Deputy Chairman David Michels quit following the EasyJet founder’s push for his ouster.
