San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro predicted President Barack Obama will win at least 70 percent of the Hispanic vote, describing Republican challenger Mitt Romney as “the most conservative candidate that the Latino community has ever seen.” Castro, the convention’s keynote speaker on Sept. 4, was interviewed today at a Bloomberg/Washington Post breakfast in Charlotte, North Carolina.
There are two main problems with sequestration. The first is that the $1.1 trillion in budget cuts happen in an idiotic, across-the-board fashion. Think farm subsidies are less valuable than medical research, and thus should take a bigger cut? Too bad. Sequestration is too dumb to tell the difference.
U.S. Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, chief recruiter of candidates in the campaign to retake the U.S. House, said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt” airing this weekend that his party will win the chamber next week and could gain as many as 59 seats.
