Michelin announces the winners and losers for its 2011 U.K. guide on Jan. 18 and the country’s chefs are betting that Koffmann’s, L’Anima and Marcus Wareing will be among the London restaurants that gain a star.
London has a new best restaurant as the Ledbury displaces Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley as top for food, according to “Harden’s London Restaurants,” an annual guide that collates views from thousands of diners.
Twenty of London’s leading chefs have been lined up to cook together for “Who’s Cooking Dinner?” an annual charity event where diners may also bid for the culinary masters to come and prepare meals at their homes.
The number of new restaurants in London jumped by 25 percent from a year earlier to 134 in the past 12 months. Closings were little changed at 74, indicating demand is proving resilient during the economic slowdown.
