The Chicago Bears fired coach Lovie Smith after nine seasons as the National Football League team failed to make the playoffs with a 10-6 record, according to NFL.com, which cited a person it didn’t identify.
Wide receiver Mike Williams was traded to the Buffalo Bills from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a sixth-round draft pick, less than a year after he signed a six- year, $40 million contract and 12 days after he was stabbed in the thigh. His brother was charged in the incident.
