Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s criticism of U.S. monetary policy, which he ramped up last week in Washington, may be putting him at odds with the Bank of Canada and the Group of 20.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper says U.S. approval of Keystone XL, a proposed 1,661-mile pipeline from Alberta to Texas, is a “no brainer” because demand for oil and jobs will overwhelm opposition from Nebraska lawmakers.
The Group of 20 has complied with three quarters of its commitments, underscoring its status as the main forum for setting global economic policy, according to a study by the G-20 Research Group.
"For a very long time, certainly from the start of Prime Minister Harper's tenure as prime minister, he said this just won't work."
