Mr. Margolis is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience as President/CEO at seven retail apparel corporations, where he has led men’s, women’s, sports, children’s and footwear groups. As an expert in apparel management with a consistent track record of revenue growth and profitability, Mr. Margolis has been a student of trends worldwide in multiple product categories, developing skills that have been proven effective in reviving brands, growing revenues, increasing consumer response, rebuilding retailer confidence and support, and driving product sales into new channels.
Mr. Margolis has most recently turned around the apparel companies of Limited Corporation after turning operations from a $100 million loss to a $130 million profit from 2005 to 2007, culminating in the sale of the Express and Limited Stores divisions. Previously, Mr. Margolis led the turnaround of Reebok and Esprit de Corp, restoring the brands and converting several years of sales contraction to revenue growth.
Currently, Mr. Margolis is on the Board of Directors at Godiva Chocolate, Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams), Built in New York, Burlington Coat Factory (owned by Bain Capital), and is a retail, fashion and consumer products contributor for Bloomberg TV. He lives in New York with his wife Donna, and has two children and three grandchildren.
