Sotheby’s, the New York-based auction house, will open a new art gallery for private sales in London this fall with a show of works by the German artist Joseph Beuys during “Frieze Week.”
Sotheby’s said it is renewing its sponsorship of Tate Britain’s contemporary-art commissions for three years -- a program that in 2008 saw Martin Creed send sprinters through the London gallery.
Self-portraits by Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat will star in contemporary-art auctions in London set to raise at least 72.5 million pounds ($116 million).
"We are very proud to be supporting Tate for the fourth year."
